The Department of Plant Sciences offers advanced graduate training
to produce qualified professionals capable of tackling the problems
of improving crop production and management of plant resources and ecosystems
of Eritrea. Graduates of the program can help farmers through extension
workers with modern and integrated crop production and protection techniques.
Graduates of the program also participate in the restoration of the
natural forest woodlands of Eritrea and their sustainable utilization,
as well as helping in forest research.
The Department seeks to offer a good foundation for graduates to pursue
further advanced education. Students are expected to undertake research
that is relevant and directed towards solving the agricultural problems
of Eritrea. The Department encourages multidisciplinary and joint collaborative
research between departments and colleges within the University, as
