Overview

Pharmaceutical services constitute a vital component of the health delivery system, and include the preparation, compounding, manufacturing, procurement, storage, dispensing and appropriate utilization of medicines and medical supplies. Pharmacists are the health professionals with the appropriate knowledge and skills to provide such services effectively.

The main objectives of this program is to train competent professionals in the science and technology of pharmacy who:

  • Are qualified to provide professional services in drug development, production, quality control, procurement, storage, distribution, information and regulation.
  • Are able to provide pharmacy care to the patient and relevant pharmaceutical information to the public and other health professionals
  • Can play a leading role in pharmaceutical management and administration
  • Have a deep appreciation and commitment to pharmacy ethics and professional conduct.

Currently, in Eritrea, there is a serious shortage of pharmacists in all sectors o pharmaceutical services. It is therefore to be expected that in the foreseeable future there will be no shortage of employment opportunities for graduates in pharmacies, hospitals and in research.
