Overview:
The Faculty of Law at the University of Asmara offers a 5-year course
of study leading to an LL.B. Degree in Law. Upon completion of the program,
graduates may enter into professional practice at the Bar. There are
already a large number of graduates working as qualified lawyers in
the courts and tribunals throughout Eritrea.
Future Law graduates may expect to work in diverse fields of legal
activity such as advisory jobs in the government, as well as in the
private sector in banks, industrial enterprises, and non-governmental
organizations. Graduates may also continue their studies abroad to attain
a Master's degree, which could lead them to acareer in research or legal
teaching. Other opportunities lie in the area of serving on the panels
of commissions such as the Law Commission and the Judicial Commission.
Law graduates may also use their knowledge, skill, and expertise in
diplomatic assignments and get opportunities to serve international
agencies and organizations.
