Advanced Diploma in Accounting

The new Diploma in Accounting program is designed to train students in the basic accounting theories and practice to enable them to become mid-level professionals.

Accounting provides quantitative financial (and non-financial) information that helps interested parties to make decisions about the deployment and use of resources in business and non-business entities. Accounting plays a role in the socio-economic development of a society because, with good information, better decisions involving allocation of societal resources are made.

Students in the Accounting Diploma program choose to specialize in Financial Management,Financial Accounting, or Cost and Management Accounting. A total of 106 credit hours must be earned for the diploma, 62 of which are in major accounting courses, 24 in Related Courses, and 20 in General Courses.

The graduate of the diploma program is expected to be well-versed in both theory and practice of accounting and will be computer proficient.

After extensive needs assessment, the University is confident that the nation-wide demand for trained accountants will continue to grow as the economy strengthens. The goal of the program is, therefore, to increase the number of trained and qualified accountants in Eritrea to meet national needs.
