The Department of Educational Psychology offers a four-year programme leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. Throughout the programme, students are expected to become well versed in the theories, research and application of the discipline. The Department services other programs in the university by offering courses, which are pertinent to enrich the all rounded education of their students. Outside the University, the unit assists various institutions by offering short-term courses to, for example, the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Teacher Training Unit, the Nursing School and the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students. Currently the Department also runs counselling services (providing various psychological therapies) both for freshman students as well as the general student body in the university.

Graduates from this Program may expect to find employment in a wide range of areas. With the B.A. Degree, professional entry level positions are possible at

• Eritrean Schools (Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools and Teacher Training Institute) as counsellors.
• Public Health Centres as Counsellors, Psychologists and Researchers in the area of psychological problems.
• Community organizations and centres as counsellors and also as organizers of child services, Youth centres etc.
• In Industries as consultants especially in the selection and placement of personnel, as counsellors and researchers
