Overview

The Department of Chemistry offers a four-year Bachelor of Science program in Chemistry. The program is designed to provide students with the fundamental principles of Chemistry and introduce them to a variety of disciplines within the Chemical Sciences.

The objective of the program is to produce chemists who can meet the current and projected needs of the nation. The program gives equal emphasis to the different core areas of Chemistry, namely, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and also includes a course in Industrial Chemistry. Such is the nature of Chemistry that almost all the chemistry courses are supported by practical work.

The Chemistry major provides foundations for a wide variety of careers. It is of course clear that the job market for graduates is not limited to Eritrea, thus we aim to produce competent graduates who can also compete for employment opportunities abroad.
