The Electrical Engineering Department offers a five-year
program leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
The primary objective of the department is to establish a well-equipped
and staffed department of Electrical Engineering capable of:
- Educating and training qualified engineers at the B.Sc. level
for designing, installing, and maintaining all types of electrical
works that the industrial and agricultural development of Eritrea
requires;
- Carrying out research towards solving national problems;
- Providing consultancy services to industries, government institutions,
and private organizations;
- Planning to start postgraduate programs in Electrical Engineering.
Graduates of this department may expect to find employment
in a number of areas. Electrical Engineers are involved in providing
services to industry and the community at large in the following areas:
- Electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution
- Modern day communication facilities;
- Electronic control systems for industrial automation from the simplest
to the most sophisticated systems;
- Computing facilities for industrial, office, and home applications
