Colleges and Departments
The University of Asmara offers undergraduate degree programs in nine colleges and faculties that are comprised of 40 departments and units. Students can also pursue Diplomas in any one of five programs in the College of Social and Management Sciences in Hal-hale, as well as in two disciplines at the Asmara campus.
Upon completion of the freshman year, students select a preferred major from the many departments in the University. They are assigned to their choices, based on grades earned in the freshman year, preference being given to those students with the highest grades. Those disciplines listed as Units offer courses in that field, but are not yet large enough to become departments in which it is possible to major.
